महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-246, verse-35

सतां सप्तपदं मित्रमाहुः सन्तः कुलोचिताः ।
मित्रतां च पुरस्कृत्य पृच्छामि त्वामहं विभो ॥३५॥
35. satāṁ saptapadaṁ mitramāhuḥ santaḥ kulocitāḥ ,
mitratāṁ ca puraskṛtya pṛcchāmi tvāmahaṁ vibho.
35. satām saptapadam mitram āhuḥ santaḥ kulocitāḥ
mitratām ca puraskṛtya pṛcchāmi tvām aham vibho
35. "The virtuous, who uphold tradition, declare that friendship with good people is established by walking seven steps together. Therefore, honoring this friendship, I ask you, O lord."
