महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-55, verse-21

गौतम उवाच ।
दक्षिणा परितोषो वै गुरूणां सद्भिरुच्यते ।
तव ह्याचरतो ब्रह्मंस्तुष्टोऽहं वै न संशयः ॥२१॥
21. gautama uvāca ,
dakṣiṇā paritoṣo vai gurūṇāṁ sadbhirucyate ,
tava hyācarato brahmaṁstuṣṭo'haṁ vai na saṁśayaḥ.
21. gautama uvāca | dakṣiṇā paritoṣaḥ vai gurūṇām sadbhiḥ ucyate
| tava hi ācarataḥ brahman tuṣṭaḥ aham vai na saṃśayaḥ
21. gautama uvāca gurūṇām dakṣiṇā vai paritoṣaḥ sadbhiḥ ucyate brahman,
hi tava ācarataḥ aham tuṣṭaḥ vai,
na saṃśayaḥ.
21. Gautama said: "Indeed, the satisfaction of teachers is declared by the virtuous to be the proper fee (dakṣiṇā). I am certainly pleased with your conduct, O Brahmin; there is no doubt about it."
