महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-54, verse-17

स्मरन्नेव च तं प्राह मातङ्गः प्रहसन्निव ।
एह्युत्तङ्क प्रतीच्छस्व मत्तो वारि भृगूद्वह ।
कृपा हि मे सुमहती त्वां दृष्ट्वा तृट्समाहतम् ॥१७॥
17. smaranneva ca taṁ prāha mātaṅgaḥ prahasanniva ,
ehyuttaṅka pratīcchasva matto vāri bhṛgūdvaha ,
kṛpā hi me sumahatī tvāṁ dṛṣṭvā tṛṭsamāhatam.

17. Remembering him, Matanga, the Caṇḍāla, then spoke to Uttanka as if laughing: 'Come, O descendant of Bhrigu, accept this water from me. Indeed, I feel great compassion for you, seeing you afflicted by thirst.'
