महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-48, verse-16

ते चापि सदृशं वर्णं जनयन्ति स्वयोनिषु ।
परस्परस्य वर्तन्तो जनयन्ति विगर्हितान् ॥१६॥

16. And they also produce offspring similar to their own class (varṇa) through their own unions. But by intermixing with each other, they generate condemned progeny.
