महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-106, verse-25

वाजिनां च सहस्रे द्वे सुवर्णशतभूषिते ।
वरं ग्रामशतं चाहमेकैकस्य त्रिधाददम् ।
तपस्वी नियताहारः शममास्थाय वाग्यतः ॥२५॥
25. vājināṁ ca sahasre dve suvarṇaśatabhūṣite ,
varaṁ grāmaśataṁ cāhamekaikasya tridhādadam ,
tapasvī niyatāhāraḥ śamamāsthāya vāgyataḥ.

25. I gave two thousand horses, each adorned with hundreds of gold, and also three hundred excellent villages to each (recipient). (Thus, I became) an ascetic, with a restricted diet, having embraced tranquility, and controlling my speech.
