महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-103, verse-5

यथा सिद्धस्य चान्नस्य द्विजायाग्रं प्रदीयते ।
बलयश्च गृहोद्देशे अतः प्रीयन्ति देवताः ॥५॥
5. yathā siddhasya cānnasya dvijāyāgraṁ pradīyate ,
balayaśca gṛhoddeśe ataḥ prīyanti devatāḥ.

5. Just as the first portion of cooked food is offered to a brahmin (dvija), and bali offerings are made in the vicinity of the house, so too are the deities pleased by this.
