महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-287, verse-4

छित्त्वाधर्ममयं पाशं यदा धर्मेऽभिरज्यते ।
दत्त्वाभयकृतं दानं तदा सिद्धिमवाप्नुयात् ॥४॥
4. chittvādharmamayaṁ pāśaṁ yadā dharme'bhirajyate ,
dattvābhayakṛtaṁ dānaṁ tadā siddhimavāpnuyāt.

dattvā abhayakṛtam dānam tadā siddhim avāpnuyāt
4. yadā adharmamayam pāśam chittvā dharme abhirajyate

4. When one has cut the bonds of unrighteousness and takes delight in the natural law (dharma), and having given the gift (dāna) of fearlessness, then one attains spiritual perfection (siddhi).
