महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-287, verse-28

स्वयं कृतानि कर्माणि जातो जन्तुः प्रपद्यते ।
नाकृतं लभते कश्चित्किंचिदत्र प्रियाप्रियम् ॥२८॥

28. svayaṁ kṛtāni karmāṇi jāto jantuḥ prapadyate ,
nākṛtaṁ labhate kaścitkiṁcidatra priyāpriyam.

28. A living being, once born, experiences the results of actions (karma) performed by themselves. No one here obtains anything, whether pleasant or unpleasant, that has not been performed by them.
