महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-11, chapter-1, verse-35

यच्चाश्रुपातकलिलं वदनं वहसे नृप ।
अशास्त्रदृष्टमेतद्धि न प्रशंसन्ति पण्डिताः ॥३५॥
35. yaccāśrupātakalilaṁ vadanaṁ vahase nṛpa ,
aśāstradṛṣṭametaddhi na praśaṁsanti paṇḍitāḥ.
35. yat ca aśrupātakalilam vadanam vahase nṛpa
aśāstradṛṣṭam etat hi na praśaṃsanti paṇḍitāḥ
35. nṛpa yat ca aśrupātakalilam vadanam vahase hi
etat aśāstradṛṣṭam paṇḍitāḥ na praśaṃsanti
35. And, O King, the face you bear, stained with tears, is a sight not sanctioned by the scriptures; truly, wise persons do not commend such a thing.
