महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-11, chapter-1, verse-29

पुत्रगृद्ध्या त्वया राजन्प्रियं तस्य चिकीर्षता ।
पश्चात्तापमिदं प्राप्तं न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥२९॥
29. putragṛddhyā tvayā rājanpriyaṁ tasya cikīrṣatā ,
paścāttāpamidaṁ prāptaṁ na tvaṁ śocitumarhasi.
29. putragṛddhyā tvayā rājan priyam tasya cikīrṣatā
paścāttāpam idam prāptam na tvam śocitum arhasi
29. rājan putragṛddhyā tasya priyam cikīrṣatā tvayā
idam paścāttāpam prāptam tvam śocitum na arhasi
29. O King, because you longed for a son (putragṛddhyā) and wished to do what was dear to him, you have incurred this regret (paścāttāpa). Therefore, you ought not to grieve.
