महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-5, verse-9

न वधः पूज्यते लोके सुप्तानामिह धर्मतः ।
तथैव न्यस्तशस्त्राणां विमुक्तरथवाजिनाम् ॥९॥
9. na vadhaḥ pūjyate loke suptānāmiha dharmataḥ ,
tathaiva nyastaśastrāṇāṁ vimuktarathavājinām.

tathā eva nyastaśastrāṇām vimuktarathavājinām
9. iha loke dharmataḥ suptānām vadhaḥ na pūjyate,

9. Killing those who are sleeping is not considered proper in this world according to natural law (dharma). Similarly, it is not proper to kill those who have laid down their weapons or those who have abandoned their chariots and horses.
