वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-5, verse-8

वरप्राप्तिं पितुस्ते तु ज्ञात्वैश्वर्यं ततो महत् ।
तपस्तप्तुं गता मेरुं भ्रातरः कृतनिश्चयाः ॥८॥
8. varaprāptiṃ pituste tu jñātvaiśvaryaṃ tato mahat ,
tapastaptuṃ gatā meruṃ bhrātaraḥ kṛtaniścayāḥ.

8. But after learning of the boons their father had received and his great sovereignty, those determined brothers went to Mount Meru to perform austerities (tapas).
