वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-11, verse-23

तद्भवान्यदि साम्नैतां दद्यादतुलविक्रम ।
कृता भवेन्मम प्रीतिर्धर्मश्चैवानुपालितः ॥२३॥
23. tadbhavānyadi sāmnaitāṃ dadyādatulavikrama ,
kṛtā bhavenmama prītirdharmaścaivānupālitaḥ.
23. tat bhavān yadi sāmnā etām dadyāt atulavikrama
kṛtā bhavet mama prītiḥ dharmaḥ ca eva anupālitaḥ
23. Therefore, O one of incomparable valor, if you would give this [city/kingdom] by peaceful means, my satisfaction would be achieved, and natural law (dharma) would also be upheld.
