O Bhārata, an unfriendly person is not worthy of knowing the supreme counsel (mantra). Neither is an unlearned friend, nor even a learned person who lacks self-control (ātman). For even in a minister, there can be both a desire for wealth (arthalipsā) and the duty to protect counsel (mantrarakṣaṇam).
