महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-214, verse-16

तत्स्कन्नं तेजसा तत्र संभृतं जनयत्सुतम् ।
ऋषिभिः पूजितं स्कन्नमनयत्स्कन्दतां ततः ॥१६॥
16. tatskannaṁ tejasā tatra saṁbhṛtaṁ janayatsutam ,
ṛṣibhiḥ pūjitaṁ skannamanayatskandatāṁ tataḥ.
16. tat skannam tejasā tatra saṃbhṛtam janayat sutam
ṛṣibhiḥ pūjitam skannam anayat skandatām tataḥ
16. That spilled (essence), sustained there by its power (tejas), generated a son. Consequently, that spilled substance, revered by the sages, attained the state of Skanda.
