शिवा भार्या त्वङ्गिरसः शीलरूपगुणान्विता ।
तस्याः सा प्रथमं रूपं कृत्वा देवी जनाधिप ।
जगाम पावकाभ्याशं तं चोवाच वराङ्गना ॥१॥

Mārkaṇḍeya said: O King, the goddess (Svāhā), having first assumed the form of Śivā, the wife of Aṅgiras—who was endowed with good character, beauty, and qualities—went near the fire god (Pāvaka), and that beautiful woman spoke to him.
