महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-60, verse-9

दुर्मरं बत वार्ष्णेय कालेऽप्राप्ते नृभिः सदा ।
यत्र मे हृदयं दुःखाच्छतधा न विदीर्यते ॥९॥
9. durmaraṁ bata vārṣṇeya kāle'prāpte nṛbhiḥ sadā ,
yatra me hṛdayaṁ duḥkhācchatadhā na vidīryate.
9. durmaram bata vārṣṇeya kāle aprāpte nṛbhiḥ sadā
yatra me hṛdayam duḥkhāt śatadhā na vidīryate
9. Alas, O Vārṣṇeya, it is truly difficult for men to die before their appointed time. How is it that my heart does not split into a hundred pieces from such grief?
