महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-203, verse-27

ज्ञानेन्द्रियाण्यतः पञ्च पञ्च कर्मेन्द्रियाण्यपि ।
विषयाः पञ्च चैकं च विकारे षोडशं मनः ॥२७॥
27. jñānendriyāṇyataḥ pañca pañca karmendriyāṇyapi ,
viṣayāḥ pañca caikaṁ ca vikāre ṣoḍaśaṁ manaḥ.

27. Thus, there are five organs of knowledge (jñānendriyāṇi) and also five organs of action (karmendriyāṇi). There are five sense objects (viṣayāḥ), and the mind (manas) is the sixteenth among these transformations (vikāra).
