महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-203, verse-25

अव्यक्तकर्मजा बुद्धिरहंकारं प्रसूयते ।
आकाशं चाप्यहंकाराद्वायुराकाशसंभवः ॥२५॥
25. avyaktakarmajā buddhirahaṁkāraṁ prasūyate ,
ākāśaṁ cāpyahaṁkārādvāyurākāśasaṁbhavaḥ.

ākāśam ca api ahaṅkārāt vāyuḥ ākāśasaṃbhavaḥ

25. The intellect (buddhi), born from the action of the unmanifest, gives rise to the ego (ahaṅkāra). And from the ego (ahaṅkāra), space (ākāśa) also arises; air (vāyu) is then born from space (ākāśa).
