व्यास उवाच ।
एवमेतत्सौबलेयि नैतज्जात्वन्यथा भवेत् ।
वितथं नोक्तपूर्वं मे स्वैरेष्वपि कुतोऽन्यथा ॥१७॥

17. vyāsa uvāca ,
evametatsaubaleyi naitajjātvanyathā bhavet ,
vitathaṁ noktapūrvaṁ me svaireṣvapi kuto'nyathā.

17. vyāsaḥ uvāca evam etat saubaleyi na etat jātu anyathā bhavet
vitatham na uktapūrvam me svaiḥ eṣu api kutaḥ anyathā

17. Vyasa said, 'This is indeed so, O daughter of Subala (Saubaleyī). This will never be otherwise. I have never spoken falsely before; how then could it be otherwise even in these (matters), by my own (words)?'
