एवमेतत्सौबलेयि नैतज्जात्वन्यथा भवेत् ।
वितथं नोक्तपूर्वं मे स्वैरेष्वपि कुतोऽन्यथा ॥१७॥

vitathaṁ noktapūrvaṁ me svaireṣvapi kuto'nyathā.

Vyasa said, 'This is indeed so, O daughter of Subala (Saubaleyī). This will never be otherwise. I have never spoken falsely before; how then could it be otherwise even in these (matters), by my own (words)?'
