vāsanāvaśaḥ jīvaḥ śarīrāt akhilān akṣasvabhāvān gṛhītvā saṃyāti,

The individual soul (jīva), compelled by its inherent tendencies (vāsanā), takes all the faculties of the senses from the body and departs, just as the wind carries fragrance from a flower.
