योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-1, chapter-22, verse-7

दुष्प्रेक्ष्यं जरठं दीनं हीनं गुणपराक्रमैः ।
गृध्रो वृक्षमिवादीर्घं गर्धो ह्यभ्येति वृद्धकम् ॥ ७ ॥
duṣprekṣyaṃ jaraṭhaṃ dīnaṃ hīnaṃ guṇaparākramaiḥ ,
gṛdhro vṛkṣamivādīrghaṃ gardho hyabhyeti vṛddhakam 7
7. duṣprekṣyam jaraṭham dīnam hīnam guṇaparākramaiḥ
gṛdhraḥ vṛkṣam iva adīrgham gardhaḥ hi abhyeti vṛddhakam
7. hi gardhaḥ duṣprekṣyam jaraṭham dīnam hīnam guṇaparākramaiḥ
vṛddhakam gṛdhraḥ adīrgham vṛkṣam iva abhyeti
7. Indeed, a predatory greed (gardha) approaches an old man (vṛddhakam) who is unsightly, decrepit, miserable, and lacking in good qualities and valor, just as a vulture approaches a barren or decaying tree.
