योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-1, chapter-22, verse-1

श्रीराम उवाच ।
अपर्याप्तं हि बालत्वं बलात्पिबति यौवनम् ।
यौवनं च जरा पश्चात्पश्य कर्कशतां मिथः ॥ १ ॥
śrīrāma uvāca ,
aparyāptaṃ hi bālatvaṃ balātpibati yauvanam ,
yauvanaṃ ca jarā paścātpaśya karkaśatāṃ mithaḥ 1

| yauvanam ca jarā paścāt paśya karkaśatām mithaḥ ||

aparyāptam hi bālatvam; yauvanam balāt pibati.

1. Śrī Rāma said: Childhood, indeed, is all too brief, yet youth forcibly consumes it. And then, old age subsequently devours youth. Behold the harshness they mutually inflict!
