मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-28, verse-10

यावत्तु नोपनयनं क्रियते वै द्विजन्मनः ।
कामचेष्टोक्तिभक्ष्यश्च तावद् भवति पुत्रक ॥१०॥
10. yāvattu nopanayanaṃ kriyate vai dvijanmanaḥ .
kāmaceṣṭoktibhakṣyaśca tāvad bhavati putraka.
10. yāvat tu na upanayanaṃ kriyate vai dvijanmanaḥ
kāmaceṣṭoktibhakṣyaḥ ca tāvat bhavati putraka
10. As long as the initiation (upanayana) ceremony is not performed for the twice-born (dvijanman), O son, he remains free to act, speak, and eat as he desires.
