मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-19, verse-25

तपस्विनां पालयिता सार्थपालस्तु सोऽभवत् ।
द्स्यु-व्यालाग्रि-शस्त्रादि-भयेष्वब्धौ निमज्जताम् ॥२५॥
25. tapasvināṃ pālayitā sārthapālastu so'bhavat .
dsyu-vyālāgri-śastrādi-bhayeṣvabdhau nimajjatām.
25. tapasvinām pālayitā sārthapālaḥ tu saḥ abhavat
dasyu-vyāla-agni-śastra-ādi-bhayeṣu abdhau nimajjatām
25. He was indeed the protector of ascetics (tapasvin) and the protector of caravans; he was [a rescuer] for those drowning in an ocean of fears (bhaya) such as those from robbers, wild beasts, fire, and weapons.
