स एव ग्रामपालोऽभूत् पशुपालः स एव च ।
क्षेत्रपालः स एवासीद् द्विजातीनाञ्च रक्षिता ॥२४॥

24. sa eva grāmapālo'bhūt paśupālaḥ sa eva ca .

He alone was the protector of villages, and he himself was the guardian of cattle. He himself was also the protector of fields and the guardian of the twice-born (dvijāti).
