मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-19, verse-14

कार्तवीर्य उवाच ।
यदि देव प्रसन्नस्त्वं तत् प्रयच्छर्धिमुत्तमाम् ।
यया प्रजाः पालयेऽहं न चाधर्ममवाप्नुयाम् ॥१४॥
14. kārtavīrya uvāca .
yadi deva prasannastvaṃ tat prayacchardhimuttamām .
yayā prajāḥ pālaye'haṃ na cādharmamavāpnuyām.
14. kārtavīrya uvāca yadi deva prasannaḥ tvam tat prayaccha ṛddhim
uttamām yayā prajāḥ pālaye aham na ca adharmam avāpnuyām
14. Kārtavīrya said: 'O God, if you are pleased, then grant me supreme prosperity (ṛddhi) by which I may govern the populace and not fall into unrighteousness (adharma).'
