आदिष्टो भगवन्मात्रा गोपालस्त्वं भवेति वै ।
मया च पालनीया क्ष्मा तस्याः स्वीकरणं कथम् ॥९॥

“O venerable one, I was commanded by my mother, 'You shall indeed be a cowherd!' And the earth (kṣmā) is to be protected by me. How then can I accept (take possession of) it?
