मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-111, verse-14

अयाचत स राज्यार्धं पितृपैतामहोचितम् ।
ते चोचुर्वैश्यपुत्रस्त्वं कथं भोक्ष्यसि मेदिनीम् ॥१४॥
14. ayācata sa rājyārdhaṃ pitṛpaitāmahocitam .
te cocurvaiśyaputrastvaṃ kathaṃ bhokṣyasi medinīm.
14. ayācata saḥ rājyārdham pitṛpaitāmahocitam te ca
ūcuḥ vaiśyaputraḥ tvam katham bhokṣyasi medinīm
14. He requested half of the kingdom, which was rightfully due to him from his father and grandfather. But they said, "You are the son of a Vaiśya (vaiśyaputra); how can you rule the earth?"
