मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-111, verse-25

न त्वं वैश्यो न चैवाहं जाता वैश्यकुले नृप ।
क्षत्रियस्त्वं तथैवाहं क्षत्रियाणां कुलोद्भवा ॥२५॥
25. na tvaṃ vaiśyo na caivāhaṃ jātā vaiśyakule nṛpa .
kṣatriyastvaṃ tathaivāhaṃ kṣatriyāṇāṃ kulodbhavā.
25. na tvam vaiśyaḥ na ca eva aham jātā vaiśyakule nṛpa
kṣatriyaḥ tvam tathā eva aham kṣatriyāṇām kulodbhavā
25. "You are not a Vaiśya, nor was I born into a Vaiśya family, O king. You are a Kṣatriya, and similarly, I too am born from a Kṣatriya family."
