मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
तस्यार्तस्य वचः श्रुत्वा सुदेवो नलगौरवात् ।
प्राह वैश्योऽस्मि गच्छान्यं क्षत्रियं त्राणकारणात् ॥३४॥

34. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca .
tasyārtasya vacaḥ śrutvā sudevo nalagauravāt .
prāha vaiśyo'smi gacchānyaṃ kṣatriyaṃ trāṇakāraṇāt.

34.
Mārkaṇḍeya said: Having heard his distressed words, Sudeva, out of respect for Nala, said, "I am a vaiśya; go to another kṣatriya for the purpose of protection."
