महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-89, verse-35

पार्श्वैस्तु दारितैरन्ये वारणैर्वरवारणाः ।
मुमुचुः शोणितं भूरि धातूनिव महीधराः ॥३५॥
35. pārśvaistu dāritairanye vāraṇairvaravāraṇāḥ ,
mumucuḥ śoṇitaṁ bhūri dhātūniva mahīdharāḥ.
35. pārśvaiḥ tu dāritaiḥ anye vāraṇaiḥ vara-vāraṇāḥ
mumucuḥ śoṇitam bhūri dhātūn iva mahī-dharāḥ
35. anye vara-vāraṇāḥ tu vāraṇaiḥ pārśvaiḥ dāritaiḥ
bhūri śoṇitam mumucuḥ mahī-dharāḥ iva dhātūn
35. And other excellent elephants, having been torn at their sides by (other) elephants, profusely shed blood, like mountains shedding their minerals (dhatu).
