प्रह्लाद उवाच ।
न श्रेयः सततं तेजो न नित्यं श्रेयसी क्षमा ।

na śreyaḥ satataṁ tejo na nityaṁ śreyasī kṣamā ,

Prahlāda said: Constant dominance (tejas) is not always beneficial, nor is perpetual forbearance (kṣamā) always superior. Therefore, O dear one, understand these two (principles) without any doubt.
