श्लेष्मातकी क्षीणवर्चाः शृणोषि उताहो त्वां स्तुतयो मादयन्ति ।
हस्तीव त्वं जनक वितुद्यमानो न मामिकां वाचमिमां शृणोषि ॥२८॥

28. śleṣmātakī kṣīṇavarcāḥ śṛṇoṣi; utāho tvāṁ stutayo mādayanti ,
hastīva tvaṁ janaka vitudyamāno; na māmikāṁ vācamimāṁ śṛṇoṣi.

28. śleṣmātakī kṣīṇa-varcāḥ śṛṇoṣi
uta aho tvām stutayaḥ mādayanti
hastī iva tvam janaka vitudyamānaḥ
na māmikām vācam imām śṛṇoṣi

28. O Śleṣmātakī (whose vigor is diminished), do you hear, or do praises rather intoxicate you? O Janaka, you are like an elephant being prodded, yet you do not listen to this speech of mine.
