Bandy said: There are seven domestic animals and seven wild animals. Seven Vedic metres (chandāṃsi) are used in a single ritual (kratu). There are also seven great sages (saptarṣayaḥ) and seven types of offerings (arhaṇāni); and the seven-stringed vīṇā (lute) is well-known.
