महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-134, verse-11

बन्द्युवाच ।
पञ्चाग्नयः पञ्चपदा च पङ्क्तिर्यज्ञाः पञ्चैवाप्यथ पञ्चेन्द्रियाणि ।
दृष्टा वेदे पञ्चचूडाश्च पञ्च लोके ख्यातं पञ्चनदं च पुण्यम् ॥११॥
11. bandyuvāca ,
pañcāgnayaḥ pañcapadā ca paṅkti;ryajñāḥ pañcaivāpyatha pañcendriyāṇi ,
dṛṣṭā vede pañcacūḍāśca pañca; loke khyātaṁ pañcanadaṁ ca puṇyam.

paṅktiḥ yajñāḥ pañca eva api atha pañca

11. Bandy said: There are five sacred fires, and the paṅkti (metre) consists of five feet. There are also five types of rituals (yajña) and five sense organs (indriyāṇi). Five 'five-crested' entities are mentioned in the Veda, and the sacred Pañcanada (land of five rivers) is renowned in the world.
