महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-67, verse-33

नमस्येयुश्च तं भक्त्या शिष्या इव गुरुं सदा ।
देवा इव सहस्राक्षं प्रजा राजानमन्तिके ॥३३॥
33. namasyeyuśca taṁ bhaktyā śiṣyā iva guruṁ sadā ,
devā iva sahasrākṣaṁ prajā rājānamantike.
33. namasyeyuḥ ca tam bhaktyā śiṣyāḥ iva gurum sadā
devāḥ iva sahasrākṣam prajā rājānam antike
33. ca prajā tam rājānam antike bhaktyā sadā namasyeyuḥ,
śiṣyāḥ gurum iva devāḥ sahasrākṣam iva (namasyeyuḥ)
33. And the populace should always revere him with devotion (bhakti), just as disciples revere their guru (teacher) or as gods revere Sahasrākṣa (Indra) whenever the king is present.
