महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-226, verse-14

अन्तर्हिताभितप्तानां यथाशक्ति बुभूषताम् ।
द्रव्याणामतिशक्त्यापि देयमेषां कृतादपि ॥१४॥

14. Even from one's acquired wealth, one should give goods to these individuals (referring to the categories of people from the previous verse) who are bereft, severely distressed, and desirous of well-being. This giving should be done according to one's capacity, and even with effort exceeding it.
