तथा स्फुरत्यहंकारो न सत्यो वाप्यसन्न च ॥ ३५ ॥

Just as a non-existent duality is perceived in the moon due to delusion, similarly, the ego (ahaṅkāra) manifests, being neither truly real nor truly unreal.
