(adjective)
Locative, masculine, singular of mandānilacalāmbhodhibhāsura
mandānilacalāmbhodhibhāsura - shining like an ocean stirred by a gentle breeze
Compound type : Bahuvrihi (manda+anila+cala+ambhodhi+bhāsura)
  • manda – slow, gentle
    adjective
  • anila – wind, breeze
    noun (masculine)
  • cala – moving, agitated
    adjective
    Root: cal (class 1)
  • ambhodhi – ocean
    noun (masculine)
  • bhāsura – shining, splendid, resplendent

Note: Qualifies `bale`.
मागधे (māgadhe) - Magadhan (referring to the army of Magadha) (Magadhan, belonging to Magadha)
(adjective)
Locative, masculine, singular of māgadha
māgadha - related to Magadha, a king of Magadha, a people of Magadha
From `magadha` (Magadha) with `aṇ` suffix.
Note: Qualifies `bale`.
बले (bale) - in the army (in the army, in the force, in strength)
(noun)
Locative, neuter, singular of bala
bala - strength, power, army, force
Note: Location of sinking.
निर्मग्ना (nirmagnā) - having sunk (describing the Vanilas) (sunk, immersed, submerged)
(adjective)
Nominative, feminine, plural of nirmagna
nirmagna - submerged, sunk, immersed
Past Passive Participle
From `nis` + root `maj` (to sink).
Prefix: nis
Root: maj (class 6)
Note: This form is feminine nominative plural. There's a grammatical gender mismatch with the subsequent `mandāḥ` (masculine plural) and `jīrṇagajā` (masculine plural implied, but form is ambiguous).
वनिला (vanilā) - the Vanilas (a group of warriors) (forest-dwellers, a particular tribe/people)
(proper noun)
Nominative, feminine, plural of vanila
vanila - forest-dweller, a kind of animal, a savage tribe
Note: This form (`vanilā`) is feminine nominative plural, while `mandāḥ` is masculine nominative plural, creating a grammatical inconsistency. It's likely intended to be `vanilāḥ` (masculine plural).
मन्दाः (mandāḥ) - sluggish, slow (describing the Vanilas) (slow, sluggish, dull, weak)
(adjective)
Nominative, masculine, plural of manda
manda - slow, sluggish, dull, weak, gentle
Note: Qualifies the implied masculine subject (Vanilas). There is a gender mismatch with `nirmagnā` and `vanilā` if they are taken as feminine plural.
पङ्के (paṅke) - in mud, in mire (in the mud, in the mire, in a swamp)
(noun)
Locative, masculine, singular of paṅka
paṅka - mud, mire, swamp, dirt
Note: Location for the comparison.
जीर्णगजा (jīrṇagajā) - old elephants (used in a comparison) (old elephants)
(noun)
Nominative, feminine, plural of jīrṇagaja
jīrṇagaja - an old elephant
Compound type : Tatpurusha (jīrṇa+gaja)
  • jīrṇa – old, decrepit, worn out
    adjective
    Past Passive Participle
    From root `jṝ`.
    Root: jṝ (class 9)
  • gaja – elephant
    noun (masculine)
Note: Used in comparison. Grammatically, `gaja` is masculine. This form (`jīrṇagajā`) suggests feminine plural, or masculine nominative singular (`jīrṇagajaḥ`). Given `iva`, it's likely plural for comparison with a group.
इव (iva) - just as (like, as, as if)
(indeclinable)
