आपातमात्ररमणेषु सुदुस्तरेषु भोगेषु नाहमलिपक्षतिचञ्चलेषु ।
ब्रह्मन्रमे मरणरोगजरादिभीत्या शाम्याम्यहं परमुपैमि पदं प्रयत्नात् ॥ ३६ ॥

brahman! aham āpātamātraramaṇeṣu sudustareṣu alipakṣaticañcaleṣu bhogeṣu na rame.

36. O Brahman! I do not revel in these worldly enjoyments which are pleasing only superficially, are exceedingly difficult to overcome, and are as ephemeral as the fluttering of a bee's wings. Fearing death, illness, old age, and so forth, I find peace; I strive with effort to attain the supreme state.
36. בְּרַהְמָן יקר, אינני מוצא עוד חדווה בתענוגות הנראים נעימים רק למראית עין, הקשים למעבר ומשתנים במהירות כמו רפרוף כנפי דבורה. מתוך פחד ממוות, ממחלות ומזקנה, אני נרגע ושואף בכל מאמציי להגיע אל המצב העליון.
