महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-39, verse-32

ब्राह्मणेन तपः कार्यं दानमध्ययनं तथा ।
क्षत्रियेण धनुर्नाम्यं स भवान्ब्राह्मणब्रुवः ॥३२॥
32. brāhmaṇena tapaḥ kāryaṁ dānamadhyayanaṁ tathā ,
kṣatriyeṇa dhanurnāmyaṁ sa bhavānbrāhmaṇabruvaḥ.

32. A Brahmin should perform austerity (tapas), give gifts (dāna), and engage in study. A Kṣatriya should wield the bow. But you, sir, are merely one who claims to be a Brahmin.
