अवारोहद्रथात्तस्मादथ कर्णो महारथः ।
गदां गृहीत्वा समरे भीमसेनाय चाक्षिपत् ॥९॥

9. avārohadrathāttasmādatha karṇo mahārathaḥ ,
gadāṁ gṛhītvā samare bhīmasenāya cākṣipat.

9. Then Karna, the great charioteer, descended from that chariot. And taking up his mace, he hurled it in battle towards Bhīmasena.
