महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-23, verse-22

यावदेतान्निरीक्षेऽहं योद्धुकामानवस्थितान् ।
कैर्मया सह योद्धव्यमस्मिन्रणसमुद्यमे ॥२२॥
22. yāvadetānnirīkṣe'haṁ yoddhukāmānavasthitān ,
kairmayā saha yoddhavyamasminraṇasamudyame.
22. yāvat etān nirīkṣe aham yoddhukāmān avasthitān
kaiḥ mayā saha yoddhavyam asmin raṇasamudyame
22. yāvat aham etān yoddhukāmān avasthitān nirīkṣe
asmin raṇasamudyame mayā kaiḥ saha yoddhavyam
22. So that I may observe these individuals, standing here and eager to fight, and discern with whom I must engage in battle in this endeavor (raṇa-samudyama).
