महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-133, verse-6

तं त्वामयशसा स्पृष्टं न ब्रूयां यदि संजय ।
खरीवात्सल्यमाहुस्तन्निःसामर्थ्यमहेतुकम् ॥६॥
6. taṁ tvāmayaśasā spṛṣṭaṁ na brūyāṁ yadi saṁjaya ,
kharīvātsalyamāhustanniḥsāmarthyamahetukam.
6. tam tvām ayaśasā spṛṣṭam na brūyām yadi saṃjaya
kharīvātsalyam āhuḥ tat niḥsāmarthyam ahetukam
6. saṃjaya,
ayaśasā spṛṣṭam tam tvām yadi aham na brūyām,
tat (mama) kharīvātsalyam niḥsāmarthyam ahetukam āhuḥ
6. O Saṃjaya, if I were not to speak to you, now that you are tainted by disgrace, people would declare such an affection to be like a she-donkey's — senseless, powerless, and without reason.
