महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-12, verse-17

नाकार्यं कर्तुमिच्छामि ब्राह्मणः सन्विशेषतः ।
श्रुतधर्मा सत्यशीलो जानन्धर्मानुशासनम् ॥१७॥
17. nākāryaṁ kartumicchāmi brāhmaṇaḥ sanviśeṣataḥ ,
śrutadharmā satyaśīlo jānandharmānuśāsanam.
17. na akāryam kartum icchāmi brāhmaṇaḥ san viśeṣataḥ
| śrutadharmā satyaśīlaḥ jānan dharmānuśāsanam
17. I do not wish to perform an improper act (akārya), especially as I am a Brahmin. I am one who has studied the principles of natural law (dharma), whose character (śīla) is truthful, and who knows the injunctions of natural law (dharmānuśāsana).
