महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-20, verse-34

नात्मनात्मवतां मुख्य इयेष मधुसूदनः ।
ब्रह्मणोऽऽज्ञां पुरस्कृत्य हन्तुं हलधरानुजः ॥३४॥
34. nātmanātmavatāṁ mukhya iyeṣa madhusūdanaḥ ,
brahmaṇo''jñāṁ puraskṛtya hantuṁ haladharānujaḥ.
34. na ātmanā ātmanavatām mukhyaḥ iyeṣa madhusūdanaḥ
brahmaṇaḥ ājñām puraskṛtya hantum haladharānujaḥ
34. The foremost among those possessing self-control (ātman), Kṛṣṇa (Madhusūdana), the younger brother of Baladeva (Haladharānuja), did not desire to kill [Jarāsaṅdha] himself, having honored Brahmā's command.
