महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-18, verse-14

दानं व्रतं ब्रह्मचर्यं यथोक्तव्रतधारणम् ।
दमः प्रशान्तता चैव भूतानां चानुकम्पनम् ॥१४॥
14. dānaṁ vrataṁ brahmacaryaṁ yathoktavratadhāraṇam ,
damaḥ praśāntatā caiva bhūtānāṁ cānukampanam.
