महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-76, verse-35

तथैव तेभ्योऽभिददौ द्विजेभ्यो गवां सहस्राणि शतानि चैव ।
यज्ञान्समुद्दिश्य च दक्षिणार्थे लोकान्विजेतुं परमां च कीर्तिम् ॥३५॥

35. tathaiva tebhyo'bhidadau dvijebhyo; gavāṁ sahasrāṇi śatāni caiva ,
yajñānsamuddiśya ca dakṣiṇārthe; lokānvijetuṁ paramāṁ ca kīrtim.

35. tathā eva tebhyaḥ abhidadau dvijebhyaḥ
gavām sahasrāṇi śatāni ca
eva yajñān samuddiśya ca dakṣiṇārthe
lokān vijetum paramām ca kīrtim

35. And similarly, for the sake of (Vedic rituals (yajña)) and their sacrificial fees (dakṣiṇā), he gave thousands and hundreds of cows to those Brahmins, in order to conquer the worlds and achieve supreme fame.
