महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-76, verse-13

अचरेभ्यश्च भूतेभ्यश्चराः श्रेष्ठास्ततो नराः ।
ब्राह्मणाश्च ततः श्रेष्ठास्तेषु यज्ञाः प्रतिष्ठिताः ॥१३॥
13. acarebhyaśca bhūtebhyaścarāḥ śreṣṭhāstato narāḥ ,
brāhmaṇāśca tataḥ śreṣṭhāsteṣu yajñāḥ pratiṣṭhitāḥ.
13. acarebhyaḥ ca bhūtebhyaḥ carāḥ śreṣṭhāḥ tataḥ narāḥ
brāhmaṇāḥ ca tataḥ śreṣṭhāḥ teṣu yajñāḥ pratiṣṭhitāḥ

13. Among all beings, the mobile ones are superior to the immobile. From them, humans are superior. And among humans, Brahmins are superior, for within them, the Vedic rituals (yajña) are firmly established.
